Our lead surveyors have carried out a vast number of vessel damage surveys and have accumulated invaluable experience enabling us to assist Insurers, Owners and Charterers in obtaining an accurate assessment of the damages as well as the cause of the casualty.

We can guide the Master and/or Operators on the best attitude to adopt as well as any letters / documents to be prepared and sent to third parties. Our experience in handling Marine Hull or P&I claims has proved crucial to owners dealing with such unfortunate cases.

Grounding

We have been involved in many types and phases of a grounding from the initial assessment of the grounding conditions, calculation of the loss of buoyancy, assessment of the sea floor type (via underwater survey), vessel damage assessment, pollution prevention assessment, cargo transfer feasibility, investigation on the best re-floating method and evaluation of the cost /time of the temporary/ permanent repairs.
Our team’s vast experience can provide invaluable assistance throughout all or any of the above phases and has made the difference in all of the handled cases.

Contact damages & collisions (with berths or other vessels)

We have been involved in many such cases and our involvement has covered the investigations of the prevailing climatic conditions both before and during the incident, crew interviews, evaluation of human factor influence, vessel or structure damage assessment, calculations of the speed and angle of blow, evaluation of the cost / duration of repairs and technical/ commercial investigation on best suited repair facility.

Stevedore related damages

We have been involved in ship structure damages during cargo handling, damages to ship’s cargo gear due to improper use from stevedores and cargo damages during stevedore handling. Although these are relatively straight forward cases, the speed of involvement is crucial since the vessel’s stay along the dock is limited and any damage assessment and investigation on the root cause has to be done quickly.
We can also assist Owners during negotiations with stevedores regarding cost / time of repairs as well as assist the vessel’s crew with the required documentation and supporting documents to be submitted.

Fire / explosions

We have been involved in relatively minor cases involving only partial ship or cargo damages (as opposed to total loss) and have investigated evidence on the origin/ cause of the damage, crew interviews, evaluation of human factor influence, vessel or cargo damage assessment as well as evaluation of damage cost (both for ship and cargo).

Flooding

We have been involved in several cases involving partial flooding. and have investigated evidence on the origin / cause of the flooding, crew interviews, evaluation of human factor influence, vessel or cargo damage assessment as well as evaluation of damage cost (both for ship and cargo).
